Radiology Mountainside Cancer Center: Radiation Oncology Accreditation

Mountainside Cancer Center: Radiation Oncology Accreditation

Radiology News - Radiology

The Radiation Oncology Department at the Mountainside Hospital Cancer Center has been awarded a three-year accreditation by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

The accreditation signifies successful completion of a rigorous quality and safety evaluation conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are recognized experts in their field.

The hospital's Radiology Oncology Department provides cancer patients with state-of-the-art treatment planning and radiation therapy. It is a core component of the Mountainside Cancer Center, which offers comprehensive education, screening and prevention programs; access to the most current treatment options for various forms of the disease; a multidisciplinary team approach to cancer care; and an array of support groups and ancillary mind-body healing programs for patients and their families.

In addition to its ACR accreditation, the Mountainside Cancer Center is accredited with commendation by the Cancer Commission of the American College of Surgeons.

"There are more innovative, safe, effective and targeted treatment options available to cancer patients than ever before, and we are proud to offer them," said Dr. Jose Barba, medical director for Radiation Oncology Services. "This accreditation by the American College of Radiology underscores our commitment to excellence and our passion for providing Mountainside patients with the finest quality care."

The ACR is a national organization that conducts peer reviews and awards accreditations to facilities deemed to have high quality and safety practice standards. The ACR is based in Reston, VA and serves over 32,000 diagnostic and interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine and medical physicists with programs that focus on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology.
