Radiology Project to Test Radiology-Specific Performance Measures

Project to Test Radiology-Specific Performance Measures

Radiology News - Radiology

Call for Volunteers for ACR/AMA-PCPI Project Testing Radiology Performance Measures.

The American College of Radiology, in collaboration with the American Medical Association-Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement (PCPI), the Society for Nuclear Medicine, the American Academy of Neurology and the National Committee for Quality Assurance, is developing a project to test several radiology-specific performance measures. Some of these measures are included in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI).

In order to include a representative set of practices in the testing, we are asking for volunteers who will share specific information about their practices and patients seen in these practices. This information will remain confidential and not be reported to anyone outside the project research team except at an aggregate, de-identified level. If your practice is interested in participating in the project please complete a short online survey before September 24.

We plan to test radiology measures related to stroke and neurologic imaging, use of fluoroscopy, mammography and nuclear medicine bone studies. Practices can participate whether or not they participated in PQRI. We are looking for a variety of practices that can share at least 60 charts related to each measure.

Measure data will be chart abstracted onsite by the project research team. If a site can also provide data elements electronically, that will be tested as well. At least one site that can submit electronically will be included in the project. All sites that express interest may not be selected. Participants will have an opportunity to review their individual, patient-level data for practice improvement. Information gathered from the testing project will be used to improve the tested measures as appropriate. If sites require an Internal Review Board approval, the project team will assist the site in obtaining such.
