Sony Electronics will be showing its full line of surgical solutions at ACS

At the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Show Sony Electronics will be showing its full line of surgical solutions, and highlighting three new high-definition (HD) image capture, digital recording and storage products for the operating room (OR).

HVO-1000MD HD Digital Video Recorder & ImageCore HD™ Archive

The HVO-1000MD digital recorder offers the sophistication of similar full-featured digital capture systems without the complexity and high cost.  It supports multiple inputs from SD and HD devices and multiple signal formats including 1080P to support any video environment. It can also record at three different bit rates. Capable of still and video recording, the unit supports simultaneous recording on the internal hard drive and two external media such as a Blu-ray disc and a USB portable hard drive, as well as real time distribution via a streaming function. The multi format optical disc drive can accommodate a wide variety of optical disc media. The user friendly medical grade recorder sports a compact design allowing it to integrate neatly into a cart solution. Built-in drivers for Sony printers and network data transmission capability through ftp or CIFS add further user convenience.

OPSIGATE™ Surgical Content Management System

Another new product debuting at the show is OPSIGATE, a comprehensive web based content management and delivery system that enables easy secured access to share surgical video and documents throughout a hospital network. The system is comprised of a dedicated HP® server pre-loaded with Sony OPSIGATE content management software.

The OPSIGATE system allows users to securely access HD surgical footage throughout a hospital network by using Microsoft Internet Explorer. HD surgical video and stills can be easily viewed and edited by utilizing a lower resolution proxy file reducing the demands on a hospital network, while retaining excellent image quality. Edited files can then be easily shared with users securely accessing those files from any PC or Mac via web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Safari or Firefox.  Its core architecture is fully scalable and can be expanded as the facility’s storage needs grow. Combined with a HVO-1000MD recorder in each operating room, an Enterprise recording and retrieval system can be created.

Surgical Display Monitors & MD2GO ™ Remote HD IP Camera System

Sony will also be showing its full range of surgical displays, including the industry’s first medical grade 3D monitor. The LMD-2451MT 3D display monitor can be seen in action inside the 3D Theater Exhibit at ACS.  In the HD communication area of the booth the latest HD video conferencing solutions will be showcased. There, the new MD2GOTM HD IP Remote Camera system can be demoed. This system is designed on a portable cart which can be transported anywhere throughout the hospital. At the heart of the system Sony utilizes the SNC-RH124HD robotic camera. MD2GO features a built- in wireless transmitter and can start communicating full HD images within seconds. The web-based interface provides for remote control of the camera via a PC and Internet Explorer.  Clinicians can communicate and capture HD video or stills with a click of the mouse. If help is needed and a phone consultation is just not enough to communicate the situation, this system can be used in an emergency room, GI Lab and for wound care from anywhere with an internet connection. The feature-rich MD2GO delivers cost-effective alternative to traditional video conferencing systems.
