SIIM: Corporate Partners for Vendor Tie-In Sessions
| Medical Conferences News - SIIM 2010 |

SIIM announces selection of Corporate Partners for Vendor Tie-In Sessions, to be held at 2010 Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine ( SIIM 2010 ) annual meeting, from June 3 - 6, 2010, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
An innovative addition to the educational program, “vendor tie-in” applied learning sessions will allow for sharing of corporate vision in context with the educational material. Attendees will be exposed to the practical aspects of implementing new technologies, as vendors propose solutions to common ‘pain points’ and a roadmap for future development.
New Tools in Data Management (Learning Track 3)
Migration: the Vendor’s Perspective
Thursday, June 3, 1:15 pm – 2:45 pm
Meeting Room 200
Participating Vendors: Acuo Technologies, LLC, and McKesson Provider Technologies
A panel discussion to open the educational session will examine the role of vendors in assisting PACS administrators in accomplishing proactive systems management. Following that, vendors will give their perspectives on how HITECH security changes will impact remote service and off-site archive/DR storage; what to do with the data in an old system when you move from PACSn to PACSn+1; helping PACS administrators be more proactive in managing a modern PACS; and practical approaches to manage the import and export of medical images.
Advanced Visualization (Learning Track 4)
Masterminding the Ultimate, Practical 3D Lab
Friday, June 4, 8:00 am – 9:30 am
Meeting Room 200
Participating Vendors: Philips Healthcare, Siemens Healthcare, TeraRecon, Inc., and Vital Images
This tie-in session will follow the didactic portion of the session, which focuses on ways that advanced visualization workstations are being utilized by radiologists, technologists, and clinicians. It will cover the use of advanced visualization workstations for primary interpretation of studies; utilization of a single workstation for multiple applications; the ability to compare current and prior studies; PET/CT and other multi-modality fusion; IHE workflow for a 3D technologist; and pre-processing of images.
Automated Reporting Systems (Learning Track 5)
Communication – An Interactive Conversation with Vendors
Friday, June 4, 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm
Meeting Room 200
Participating Vendors: GE Healthcare and Nuance Healthcare
The first portion of the educational session will focus on systems such as speech recognition, structured reporting, and the migration path from dictation/transcription to automated radiology reporting. Following that, the tie-in session will examine when it is appropriate to move from dictation and transcription to automated radiology reporting; and the cycle of reporting from the order process through communicating the results.
Imaging Center PACS (Learning Track 7)
Image Sharing and Accessibility
Saturday, June 5, 8:00 am – 9:30 am
Meeting Room 200
Participating Vendors: InSite One, Inc., and NovaRad Corporation
The finer points of image transfer, current limitations of image sharing, and the need for a seamless transaction of data and images in the healthcare space, between physicians, institutions, and /or health systems, will encompass the didactic portion of this session. The vendor portion topics will include the current national focus on linking together healthcare providers; image exchange to address solutions rather than creating more problems; and real world products for exchanging images between facilities.
