ScImage's PicomEnterprise workflow management foundation fuses DICOM, HL7 and web services into a single codebase
Q: What products, updates or innovations are you announcing or launching at RSNA?
In addition to a traditional PACS deployment method, PicomEnterprise now boasts a web-based workflow management foundation that fuses DICOM, HL7 and web services into a single codebase. This foundation provides an industry first in intelligent workflow that can be layered over separate silos of information to create a unified workflow solution.
PicomEnterprise joins core image and information communication protocols with intelligent business rules to create a workflow management foundation. This latest innovation utilizes PicomEnterprise's core web services architecture to establish a foundation for improving operational efficiencies within the department and across multiple facilities. Leveraging this foundation, the newest version features dynamic workflow allocation that enable users to assign studies to specific readers based on location, time of day, sub-specialty, individual backlogs and current workload indexes. Administrators may now also track and manage daily workflow, order backlogs and reporting turnaround. Physician collaboration is facilitated by the addition of instant messaging capability and voice over IP communication to currently logged-in reading physicians.
Q: What are the benefits of using your product?
ScImage's PicomEnterprise solution is designed to support acquisition, storage, distribution and reporting for multiple disciplines. Whether it's radiology PACS, cardiology imaging in a hospital or private practice or orthopedic imaging, our solutions are designed to meet the needs of multiple disciplines. We do this using a web-based infrastructure while delivering discipline specific clinical productivity tools.
We also boast a complete ECG management solution. And because it is web-based PicomEnterprise also allows full-fidelity remote viewing and reporting using the same tools inside and outside the facility. Rounding out our offering is an offsite disaster recovery solution called PicomOnline. This remote data center offers full telemedicine capabilities and offsite archiving for business continuity purposes.
Q: What are you hoping to achieve from this year's RSNA?
ScImage continues to focus on ensuring that our current and future customers are informed and aware of all of the capabilities of ScImage's technology that go beyond the traditional concept of PACS. This includes the recent work that ScImage has completed with the Veteran's Health Administration and our disaster recovery solution PicomOnline. We deliver true multi-department medical imaging and informatics solutions with discipline-specific reading and reporting tools.
Q: What key messages do you have for RSNA attendees?
ScImage simplifies complex workflow solutions for multiple clinical specialties with a unified approach. In addition, ScImage can provide interoperability between the PACS solutions already in place but are currently standalone, silo-type systems. Our enterprise-wide solutions meet the needs of multiple stakeholders within varied healthcare environments. Whether you are a physician, technician, department managers and C-level executive each can benefit from the enterprise-wide solutions that ScImage delivers.
Q: How do you see the year ahead in clinical and business terms?
The vast majority of PACS purchases are stand-alone silo-type solutions. Interoperability among these systems is becoming more important. Customers are beginning to realize the need for a unification strategy for these disparate solutions. ScImage's web-based solutions bridge the gap by placing a layer of connectivity over a variety of silo-type solutions. The result is single point of access/distribution for information held by various systems in multiple locations.
Cardiology PACS applications will also continue to be a focus for our company. With our history of managing both static and dynamic imaging modalities, ScImage is uniquely positioned to bring valuable solutions to cardiology.
