ScImage Enhances its Ultrasound Image Visualization Capabilities with Philips QLAB Interface

Company News - ScImage, Inc.

Will increase efficiencies for clinicians and promote accuracy

ScImage is pleased to announce the release of a new revision of its PicomEnterprise PACS system with direct integration to Philips’ QLAB 2D & 3D ultrasound image processing software. Facilities using Philips ultrasound systems will now benefit from the availability of Philips’ QLAB advanced ultrasound quantification tools within ScImage ’s Enterprise PACS, delivering convenience and efficiency benefits for clinicians.

“We are committed to supporting interoperability with other vendors, and ScImage’s interface to our QLAB ultrasound application is a manifestation of our connected workflow strategy,” said Neal Grotenhuis, Cardiac Ultrasound Product Manager for Philips Healthcare. “We recognize that not all customers will have a single vendor lab and are more likely to choose equipment from vendors who work with each other to improve connected workflow. Having a customer-focused approach and a cooperative strategy with other vendors allows clinicians to choose equipment that best meets their needs based on clinical features, value and workflow.”

The integration allows the user to launch the QLAB application directly from the ScImage PACS workspace with automatic image data sharing. This capability creates efficiencies during the diagnostic cycle by eliminating the need to perform the quantification on the ultrasound system after the images are acquired; it also eliminates the need to send the images to a stand-alone workstation for quantification. In addition to benefiting from this enhanced workflow, facilities also benefit from the potential to increase throughput of their ultrasound systems. Embedding QLAB into PACS workflow allows physicians to perform advanced visualization of prior studies from anywhere for comparison purposes.

Images and data that are generated from the QLAB analysis are seamlessly made part of ScImage PACS web distribution and archive along with diagnostic reports and workflow documents. “We are pleased to be able to offer the QLAB product to our existing and future customers,” states ScImage Founder and CEO, Sai P. Raya, Ph.D. “Providing a best of breed approach supports our philosophy of designing solutions that incorporate industry standards and drive interoperability,” he continued.
