King Abdul Aziz University Hospital (KAUH) in Jeddah, has selected the IT and medical-technology company Sectra as its provider of PACS for processing and archiving of digital radiology images. The system was sold by Attieh Medico, Sectra ’s distribution partner for Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia has a population of 26 million, and the Saudi Arabian government is making significant investments in the healthcare sector.
“The order from this reputable university hospital represents a break through in our efforts to expand our business in the rapidly growing Saudi Arabian market,” says Torbjörn Kronander, President of Sectra’s medical operations.
KAUH is considered a pioneer in the field of PACS in Saudi Arabia and a leader in healthcare IT utilization. It was one of the first hospitals in the GCC region (Gulf Cooperation Council) to implement an enterprise-wide PACS back in year 2000.
The use of Sectra’s latest generation PACS will increase the availability of images and patient information thereby improving patient care and enhancing workflow. KAUH radiology department performs more than 100,000 radiology examinations each year.
