BMI Bath Clinic upgraded its Breast Care Service with Siemens Healthcare 's Full Field Direct Digital mammography system
BMI Bath Clinic has upgraded its Breast Care Service with the addition of a Full Field Direct Digital mammography system, the MAMMOMAT Inspiration from Siemens Healthcare. Moving from conventional analogue to digital images will enable the hospital to offer faster, more comfortable breast examinations with improved image quality.
The Inspiration combines ease-of-use with patient comfort to ensure that examinations are straightforward for both the patient and clinician. The isocentric rotation of the detector makes for smoother positioning, while one-click-to-image functionality helps to simplify patient setup and the image reading process. Digital images are able to be viewed immediately.
Reviewing the mammograms will also be simpler with the addition of Siemens’ syngo MammoReport workstation. It can load up to eight images in one second and the software is simple to use with an intuitive user interface. At the click of a button, the interface can switch between screening and diagnostics data.
Patients at Bath Clinic will benefit from the Inspiration’s low dose, which is controlled by Siemens’ intuitive Opdose feature. Opdose automatically selects the optimum dose according to the breast density of the individual patient. Furthermore, an intelligent compression feature applies the exact pressure needed to achieve the best possible image while minimising discomfort.
“The Inspiration represents the latest technological advance in the field of breast imaging,” said Anna Stevens, Imaging Manager at Bath Clinic. “Moving to digital mammography will ensure our Breast Care Service can offer patients the reassurance of the highest quality examination.”
“The Inspiration was designed with feedback from mammographers around the world and its ease-of-use and features for improved patient comfort really reflect this,” said Lynn Blackburn, Product Manager, Special Products at Siemens Healthcare. “The system will enable BMI Bath Clinic to offer an enhanced Breast Care Service now and into the future as upgrades for stereotactic biopsy and tomosynthesis modules can be easily applied.”
