HIMSS10: Siemens Answers Critical Imaging Queries

Company News - Siemens Healthcare

Siemens Healthcare 's focused discussions will take place on quality and efficiency improvements in imaging workflow.

The Imaging & Knowledge Management business unit of Siemens Healthcare will conduct strategic discussions with customers and prospects on utilizing advanced imaging IT software in their healthcare facilities, during the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society ( HIMSS 2010 ) Annual Meeting, March 1-4, in Atlanta. The closed-door meetings are part of Siemens Healthcare’ unique HIMSS10 programming experience, which provides a forum for healthcare providers to intimately discuss their individual healthcare goals with Siemens experts and learn more about the robust Siemens health and imaging IT solutions.

“We’re excited to get together with our customers and prospects at HIMSS to discuss their individual imaging IT needs and reiterate our commitment to help reduce workflow redundancy, lower costs, and improve patient care,” said Kurt Reiff, Vice President, Image and Knowledge Management, Siemens Healthcare. “Siemens’ knowledge-driven solutions provide radiologists, cardiologists, clinical imaging users, and executives with the relevant information where they need it most – at the point of decision-making.”

Advanced Visualization
syngo.via, Siemens’ new imaging software for multimodality reading of clinical cases that was unveiled at the Radiology Society of North America ( RSNA ) annual meeting last November, will continue to remain a major discussion point with customers during HIMSS. With syngo.via, Siemens is placing special focus on reading efficiency through automated case preparation and structured case navigation across multiple specialties, including cardiology, oncology, and neurology, helping to boost advanced image reading efficiency and opening new paths into the clinical routine.

Radiology Information Systems ( RIS )
Another critical topic Siemens expects to discuss with providers at this year’s show is how portal-driven technology is setting new standards for customizable, role-based, context-sensitive, and knowledge-driven radiology workflow. Role-based portals are the access point to radiological information, allowing information to be available “anywhere and anytime” – all in one place.

syngo Workflow is the RIS component of syngo Suite, Siemens’ family of integrated, web-enabled imaging IT products combining RIS with Picture Archiving and Communication System ( PACS ) solutions. syngo Workflow’s latest version, 30B, includes several enhanced features for improving radiology workflow, performance, and stability. For example, its syngo Portal Radiologist solution now supports an additional workflow step, “medical check request,” which further assists radiologists efficiently plan and validate exam orders. Plus, upgrades to the embedded dictation tool, syngo Voice, include context sensitive shortcuts, helping to make dictation more efficient. Also, Siemens’ latest portal solution, syngo Portal Executive, captures organizations’ business metrics and helps align to day-to-day operations within a department. Whether it is trending exam volumes, monitoring patient wait times, or supervising report turnaround times, syngo Portal Executive provides the necessary business intelligence tools to enhance the operational workflow within an organization and effectively highlights opportunities for further growth.

Picture Archiving Communications Systems ( PACS )
Siemens will also be reviewing its PACS advancements, specifically the new syngo Imaging Version V35, featuring major improvements in scalability, configurability, and Mammography support, as well as the ability to ‘park’ studies at a moments notice for future reading. This new version also enables a combination of separate innovative computer-aided detection ( CAD ) and advanced imaging solutions at the PACS viewing workstation. These intelligent post-processing applications help improve confidence and are geared toward lung, colon and whole-body imaging workflow enhancement.

Cardiology IT
Cardiologist-focussed discussions will center around syngo Dynamics, Siemens’ multimodality dynamic image review, archiving, and reporting system designed to improve the efficiency of clinical procedures through intuitive, evidence-based reporting. syngo Dynamics incorporates images and information from echocardiography, cardiac catheterization, nuclear medicine, OBG/YN, and ultrasound departments. Ease of use, reporting templates, and clinical tools all combine to enhance workflow efficiencies and help cardiologists provide optimal patient care.

syngo.via can be used as a standalone device or together with a variety of syngo.via-based software options, which are medical devices in their own rights.
