Siemens answers questions for life at UKRC 2008
| Company News - Siemens Healthcare |
At this year's UK Radiological Congress (UKRC) on the 2nd - 4th June 2008 in Birmingham, Siemens will be unveiling its latest Women's Health and ultrasound advancements, demonstrating its newly launched MRI and CT scanners, plus previewing innovative surgical and auto-positioning digital imaging technology.
The medical devices have been designed to assist with the prevention and identification of disease at early stages to help answer the important questions of life and deliver a high standard of patient care. The high specification solutions also ensure ease of use for staff on a daily basis, deliver high throughput capabilities and reduce the cost per examination, resulting in a rapid return on investment.
The MAGNETOM Essenza 1.5 MRI offers high performance, affordability and a wide feature set to assist with patient throughput. It will take centre stage along with the new SOMATOM Definition AS CT scanner. This breaks with the normal conventions of CT as the world's first adaptive scanner. This means that it can adapt to any patient or clinical need in routine diagnostic work and complex examinations including cardiology, neurology and oncology.
The new Ultrasound and Women's Health team will present information on the MAMMOMAT Inspiration, Siemens' second generation Full Field Digital Mammography system. The new ACUSON S2000, the first silicon transducer ready ultrasound system will be unveiled at the show. Both systems have been designed to assist in delivering a high standard of care in symptomatic and asymptomatic examinations.
Siemens auto-positioning digital X-ray unit with wireless detector, the AXIOM Ysio wi-D, will also be on display. The advanced general X-ray solution delivers increased flexibility and efficiency in examinations due to the wireless digital detector and 1,000 pre-set anatomical auto-positioning programmes.
Information on the impressive Artis zeego, Siemens' multi-axis C-arm for interventional imaging, will also be available to delegates. The Artis zeego has 8 pivot points extending imaging capabilities through virtually unrestricted C-arm positioning. This gives ultimate flexibility in catheter labs and operating rooms as the extra positioning functionality allows for advanced cross-sectional imaging not achievable with traditional C-arm systems.
Siemens will be offering CPD accredited training to Society of Radiographers (SoR) members during UKRC. Short education sessions will be delivered by Siemens application specialists to assist radiographers with developing knowledge in the fields of imaging, oncology and women's health.
Siemens will also be sponsoring two of the satellite sessions during the conference programme. 'Trauma imaging in the future using Hybrid Systems' will be delivered by Dr. Muhr, a radiologist from the Klinikum Wels Grieskirchen in Austria on Monday 2nd June at 10.00-11.00am. The second session titled 'Dual Energy CT' will be delivered by Dr. Thorsten Johnson M.D of the University Hospital, Munich on Tuesday 3rd June at 2.00-3.00pm.
The Siemens Managed Equipment Services (MES) team will be present on the stand to provide assistance and answer any questions. Since pioneering the concept in 1997, Siemens has become the market leading provider of MES. Customer sites are given an informed choice on what equipment replacement and renewal path to take as part of a stable, long term approach to managing technology and financial planning.
Representatives from Siemens Financial Services will also be on hand to discuss financial solutions that assist with upgrading to the latest medical imaging innovations. By leveraging the Siemens Group resources, more flexible asset finance solutions are on offer to NHS Trusts and Diagnostic Centres, without the constraints of the current economic situation facing many other banking and finance institutions.
Siemens will be at stand 650.
