Inaugural PET.CT Course Heralded a Success

Knowledge development encouraged by Siemens Healthcare

A dedicated two-day course, designed to introduce and build knowledge of PET . CT technology and procedures, has been successfully completed by 30 radiologists, physicists, and radiographers from the UK and Europe.  It was hosted at Hammersmith Hospital, part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and managed by Siemens Healthcare.

During the course, clinical delegates had the opportunity to learn about the innovation of PET . CT scanners and biomarkers.  Interactive sessions were run focusing on the interpretation of scans featuring fludeoxyglucose (FDG) and novel tracers such as Gallium-68 DOTATATE.   Lectures also covered the use of PET . CT in lymphoma, lung cancer and respiratory gating, breast and
melanoma.

Professor Adil Al-Nahhas, Chief of Service of Nuclear Medicine at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust said, "We are delighted at the success of the first PET . CT course in conjunction with Siemens Healthcare.  Not only did it give an overview on the physics and radiopharmacy of PET . CT but it also explained the modern role in diagnosis, staging and response to therapy."  

Lawrence Foulsham, Product Manager for Molecular Imaging & Oncology at Siemens Healthcare said, "The sharing of innovation news, interpretative sessions and luminary lectures has been a great success.  Following the positive feedback from delegates we are now looking to develop this into an annual event. "
