The Christie selects Siemens for high quality imaging on an adaptable system
The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, one of Europe's leading oncology centres, recently upgraded its CT facilities with the installation of a SOMATOMR Definition AS from Siemens Healthcare. The 64-slice system is meeting a wide range of radiotherapy planning needs at the cancer centre, helping to assess radiotherapy treatment for various cancers.
The SOMATOM Definition AS is a highly adaptable system, designed to perform successfully across a range of patient types and imaging requirements. With its wide bore, high spatial resolution and advanced scanning capabilities, staff at The Christie have been impressed with the CT's reliable performance and high quality images. The system is situated adjacent to a 16-slice Siemens SOMATOMR Sensation that performs general radiology scans.
"We were looking for a scanner that could perform well in a radiotherapy planning environment and the SOMATOM Definition AS ticked all the right boxes," said Pat Lawrence, Radiotherapy Manager at The Christie. "It delivers superb image quality and has made a real difference to our radiotherapy planning service. The staff also enjoy using it due to its intuitive interface."
"The adaptability of the Definition AS makes it the ideal solution for a busy site that must meet the needs of individual patient requirements," said John Brady, Regional Sales Manager at Siemens Healthcare. "The Christie is well known for its excellent cancer facilities and we are delighted that this innovative CT is playing such a large part in patient management."
