Five ACUSON S2000s from Siemens Healthcare enhance imaging facilities

Three of the four systems at Royal Preston Hospital are located in the main X-ray Department and are being used for interventional ultrasound, general all purpose scanning and some outpatient examinations. The other S2000 is situated in the Sharoe Green Unit at the hospital where it is being used for obstetric ultrasound, which includes nuchal translucency screening in the first trimester of pregnancy.
The Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department is already benefiting from streamlined workflow after two S2000s were installed in June 2010 along with Siemens Healthcare ' syngoR Auto OB software application and a 9L4 transducer. The Trust's fifth new system will be used as part of Chorley and South Ribble Hospital's new breast screening service.
"The S2000s provide us with crisp, clear images for a variety of examinations and are ergonomically much better and more versatile than our previous systems," said Tracy Butcher, Consultant Sonographer at Chorley and South Ribble Hospital. "It is particularly advantageous to have the same system as it is easy for staff to transfer skills and we all enjoy using them."
"This multiple installation of S2000s will considerably increase the imaging facilities offered by Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust," said Bernadette Leonard, Regional Sales and Clinical Applications Manager for Ultrasound at Siemens Healthcare. "The versatility of the system for different clinical procedures is also extremely beneficial as illustrated by its uses within different departments at both Chorley and South Ribble Hospital and Royal Preston Hospital."
