Next Generation Ultrasound System Installed in the Vascular Lab at Manchester Royal Infirmary

Company News - Siemens Healthcare

ACUSON S2000 2.0 offers superior imaging for vascular ultrasound examinations

The Vascular Lab at Manchester Royal Infirmary, part of Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has upgraded its imaging facilities to offer a wider range of ultrasound vascular examinations.  It has installed a new ACUSON S2000T 2.0 ultrasound system from Siemens Healthcare

The S2000 2.0 replaces a Siemens SONOLINE AntaresT ultrasound system and is being used for a variety of procedures.  This includes Carotid artery ultrasound, venous ultrasound for Deep Vein Thrombosis and varicose veins, aortic aneurysms, peripheral arterial ultrasound and for use in renal pre and post operative procedures such as upper limb vein mapping and arterio-venous fistulae.

Performance and imaging capabilities have been increased in the new 2.0 release of the S2000 to boost diagnostic confidence.  Powerful imaging enhancements include 'Advanced SieClearT spatial compounding' and 'Dynamic TCET Tissue Contrast Enhancement Technology,' which when combined gives enhanced contrast resolution and greater flexibility in examinations.

"The image quality of the S2000 is great.  It is easy to use and it has not been difficult for staff to adapt from using the previous Siemens system," said Charis Richards, Acting Vascular Lab Manager at Manchester Royal Infirmary.  "The excellent image quality provided will also assist with our possible plans to take on post aortic stent scans in the lab."

"The S2000 is a premier ultrasound solution that is ideal for vascular imaging," said Bernadette Leonard, Regional Sales Manager for Ultrasound Products at Siemens Healthcare .  "We are very pleased that its superb image quality and versatility is enabling staff in the Vascular Lab to carry out a wide range of examinations."
