SuiteMed supports the new Master of Science program in Health Care Informatics from the University of Central Florida
The University of Central Florida (UCF) ranked as the third largest research university in the nation has announced its new Master of Science program in Health Care Informatics. This program was made possible with a donation from SuiteMed , LLC of its certified SuiteMed IMS, integrated single database electronic medical record ( EHR ) / practice management (PM) solution and CompuTech City, SuiteMed’s Florida-based authorized partner. As EMR s become more widely used, this unique program will meet the needs of the recently enacted healthcare stimulus program which will dramatically increase the demand for trained healthcare informatics personnel.
Over the next five years CompuTech City is committed to donating the necessary hosting, training, software support and updates, valuing the donation at over $2.2M. “We realize the importance of a formalized training program which will enable professionals to attain a better understanding and use of today’s technology, which will take them into the future of health care,” says Saurin Patel, CEO of CompuTech City.
“One of the main goals of the HITECH Act under ARRA is to drive healthcare IT adoption, so helping to make this program possible is absolutely the right start,” says Mark Kozak, SuiteMed, Vice President of Business Development. Before any healthcare professional can even think about achieving meaningful use and obtaining the available reimbursements, they have to have the right IT solution and trained personnel in place.”
Currently the program has 24 students and is looking to accept 30 students in the fall of 2010. UCF is a regional extension center (REC) for central Florida tasked with assisting medical practices to obtain and use EMR s. The donation from SuiteMed and CompuTech City will enable them to provide assistance and resources for a better understanding and use of healthcare IT.
