Hans Barella, former president and chief executive officer of Philips Medical Systems, has been nominated President of the Supervisory Board of SuperSonic Imagine.

During its meeting of July 2nd 2009, the Supervisory Board of SuperSonic Imagine, young, innovative corporation, which was founded in 2005 by experts in the ultrasound medical imaging field, has nominated Hans Barella as President of the Supervisory Board.

Hans Barella, 66 years old, was previously President and Chief Executive Officer of Philips Medical Systems and member of the Group Management Committee of Royal Philips Electronics.

Hans Barella has, for the past 30 years, occupied several key positions at Philips Medical Systems, including commercial, marketing and technical roles. He became member of the top management team in 1985 and was appointed President and CEO of Philips Medical Systems in 1997. During this time, he initiated an ambitious acquisition program and assembled five major companies into one organization dedicated to diagnostics, treatment and patient monitoring.

Additionally, from 1992 to 1996, was Chairman of COCIR: European Coordination Committee of the Radiological, Electromedical and Healthcare IT Industry.
