SuperSonic Imagine's Aixplorer : Arab Health 2010

Company News - SuperSonic Imagine

SuperSonic Imagine will present Aixplorer, a new-generation ultrasound device, at Arab Health Congress 2010 , to be held from January 25th to 28th, Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

SuperSonic Imagine , a young, innovative French company positioned in the medical imaging market, has just launched an ultrasound system called Aixplorer . It is the only system to use MultiWave technology, based on the interaction between compression waves and shear waves in tissue. By supplying quantitative data about tissue toughness or elasticity,  Aixplorer helps clinicians to considerably fine-tune their diagnosis. It will be on display at Arab Health Congress 2010 , to be held from January 25th to 28th.

supersonic-aixploreThe system's architecture is entirely founded upon software, providing both excellent image quality in B mode (longitudinal waves) and, this is a first, data about tissue toughness or elasticity thanks to shear waves.

Aixplorer 's excellent B-mode image quality comes from three factors: its system speed, accuracy and flexibility. By remarkably improving lateral and contrast resolution (in tissues of different density, ranging from soft to tough), as well as structure boundaries, the software simply revolutionises traditional imaging. MultiWave imaging also uses the TissueTuner, a unique tool allowing practitioners to tune into five levels of density to adapt the speed of sound to the tissue being passed through.

Aixplorer is the only system capable of generating, sensing and calculating shear wave speed, resulting in the two-dimensional display of actual tissue elasticity. Thanks to UltraFast imaging technology, Aixplorer can acquire data at speeds reaching up to 20,000 Hz, which is 200 times faster than conventional ultrasound devices.

Unlike conventional elastography, ShearWave elastography is not based upon compression and is thus unaffected by the practitioner's skill. Aixplorer supplies an objective estimate of tissue toughness in real time, in the shape of quantitative colour mapping of the lesion. Results can be reproduced and lesions may be monitored at all times.
