Vendors Partner With Medicare To Evaluate Telehealth

Healthcare IT News - Teleradiology

Robert Bosch Healthcare, and CMO -The Care Management Company team up to evaluate telehealth in managing care for medical beneficiaries with chronic conditions.

Robert Bosch Healthcare, and CMO -The Care Management Company, a subsidiary of Montefiore Medical Center, have rolled out a telehealth program called "Health Buddy" system for up to 6,600 beneficiaries in the Bronx.

The Bosch "Health Buddy" system provides care managers and nurses the ability to monitor seniors and disabled adults on a daily basis and to intervene if necessary before crises occur. The program is funded by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ( CMS ) as part of their Care Management for High-Cost Beneficiaries Demonstration, an initiative intended to evaluate approaches for improving care for individuals with often intense medical and social-services needs.

Implementing the Health Buddy program at Montefiore Medical Center follows a successful initial roll-out in Wenatchee, Washington, and Bend, Oregon. "These projects have successfully demonstrated the telehealth model can work in rural settings. The Montefiore telehealth project will test the concept in one of the most diverse urban environments in the country,"  Derek Newell, vice president, Bosch Healthcare in North America explained.
