Thomson Reuters announced that they are now supporting the iPhone and iPad to interface to their real-time “Clinical Xpert Solution Suite

While many electronic health records ( EHR ) vendors, such as Epic and Allscripts, have been busily building iOS and Andrdoid apps to interface with their core clinical systems, other vendors have been developing system integrators that expose hospital clinical data, collected from disparate hospital clinical systems, on mobile devices.

One such vendor is PatientKeeper, which is sold to hospitals and allows doctors carrying a wide array of mobile devices to interface with hospital clinical systems in order to review laboratory data, enter documentation and even charges.

Another well known vendor in this space was MercuryMD, which was bought by Thomson Reuters in 2006. MercuryMD hails from the days when the premiere hand held device was the Palm and most doctors carried Blackberrys. Now, Thomson Reuters has announced that they are now supporting the iPhone and iPad to interface to their real-time “Clinical Xpert Solution Suite”.

The suite includes ready-made integration with numerous EHR vendors , including Cerner , Eclipsys , Epic, GE, MEDITECH, McKesson and Siemens . The vendor claims that with the addition of iPhone support, “ Clinical Xpert supports more mobile devices than any other real-time clinical surveillance and mobile patient data solution.”
