Three Palm Software, LLC of Los Gatos, California announced that it has received 510(k) clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its WorkstationOne™ Breast Imaging Workstation. WorkstationOne is intended for softcopy reading and interpretation of digital mammography images, and was developed with the goal of enabling radiologists to read digital mammograms as efficiently as they can read films on motorized viewer light-boxes.

WorkstationOne incorporates expert viewing methodology, including Tabar's systematic viewing technique for searching for subtle abnormalities on the mammograms. "WorkstationOne's unique reading protocol provides a very efficient environment for reading digital mammography exams" said Dr. Laszlo Tabar, Professor of Radiology at the School of Medicine, University of Uppsala, Sweden. "It is critical to be able to read the ever increasing number of digital mammography examinations in an efficient and effective manner and WorkstationOne helps the radiologists to accomplish this goal".

WorkstationOne supports IHE integration profiles and the display of CAD markers. The workstation is a software system that can be installed on an off-the-shelf general purpose computer with one or two gray scale high resolution monitors and one color monitor.
