TomoVision new DICOMatic 'Worklist' module at RSNA

Q: What products, updates or innovations are you announcing or launching at RSNA?

TomoVision introduces the new 'Worklist' module to its DICOMatic product. This module will enable you to integrate older non-DICOM CT, MR, NM and ultrasound scanners to the existing DICOM network. By taking advantage of the Modality Worklist management, your old scanner can now be integrated seamlessly in the DICOM stream.

With the new 'Worklist' module, the operator will not have to input all these pesky and error prone patients' demographic information in the old scanner. He just selects the matching entry in the worklist and DICOmatic will do the rest.

The worklist's information will be integrated in the resulting images when our software converts them to DICOM before pushing them to the PACS.

Best of all, since our conversion process is not based on a 'frame grabber' like all our competitors, our solution is completely independent of the scanner's console and is not crippled with any loss of image quality and information like they are.

Q: What are the benefits of using your product?

Better DICOM connectivity for a fraction of the price! You are upgrading your scanner to the latest DICOM model? Great! But what about all those hundreds of MOD archives from the previous scanner? Do you keep the old system just to read them back? Do you send them to a service that will convert them to DICOM? No! You just buy our software, install it on any PC, and presto, you now have a station that can extract the old studies directly from the MOD. Our software will read the archives, convert them to DICOM and push them to you DICOM network whenever you need them. All that for less than $2,500.

Q: What are you hoping to achieve from this year's RSNA?

Visibility! Our conversion products have been around for more than five years but we suffer from a lack of visibility. Big institutions know us and love our products; we are now trying to reach all the others who are stuck with data migration problems.

Q: What key messages do you have for RSNA attendees?

We have a solution for your migration problems. Not only is it the best, but it is at a fraction of the cost!

Q: How do you see the year ahead in clinical and business terms?

The main threat to us is obsolescence. There are less and less non-DICOM scanners around, and at some point even the old archives start to degrade. But, as the market in America will decrease, the market in the third world will increase because that's where the old scanners go to die.
