Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc., has installed the 1,100th Vantage MR system at Geisinger Health System in Danville, Pa.

Demonstrating the ability of Toshiba’s VantageTM Titan MR system to help healthcare providers improve patient care and workflow in MR, Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc., has installed the 1,100th Vantage MR system at Geisinger Health System in Danville, Pa. The facility is using Toshiba’s Vantage Titan 1.5T MR to image bariatric patients and improve overall patient compliance for MR imaging.

“The MRI unit’s large, open bore was designed to accommodate both larger and claustrophobic patients. This enhancement will allow our team to deliver improved services to this patient population,” said Brenda Payne, team leader, MRI, Geisinger Medical Center. “For the approximately 80 exams we perform each week, we can provide our patients with the added benefit of comfort to meet their needs while continuing to provide the reliable results Geisinger patients have come to expect.”

The Vantage Titan 1.5T MR has a 71-cm open bore to provide a greater feeling of openness and more easily accommodate larger patients. It allows for feet-first imaging for most exams, letting patients keep their heads outside of the bore during exams to help reduce claustrophobia. Toshiba’s PianissimoTM noise-reduction technology reduces exam noise levels by up to 30 decibels, addressing one of the major compliance issues in MR.

“Working with Geisinger to reach this milestone demonstrates Toshiba’s commitment to developing patient-friendly solutions for a broad range of patients, while still maintaining the diagnostic accuracy clinicians require,” said Stuart Clarkson, director, MR Business Unit, Toshiba.
