Toshiba Medical Systems CorporationChildren’s Healthcare of Atlanta Sibley Heart Center Installs Toshiba’s Aplio MX Ultrasound.

To improve clinical performance in fetal echocardiography with advanced imaging applications, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta has acquired Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc.’s AplioTM MX ultrasound system for the Children’s Sibley Heart Center fetal echo program.

The Children’s Sibley Heart Center’s Aplio MX features Differential Tissue Harmonics Imaging, Toshiba’s exclusive, patented harmonics technology. This technology offers important diagnostic details when imaging a fetal heart and helps increase contrast resolution so physicians can differentiate tissue more distinctly.

“The advanced capabilities of the system show detailed visualizations, which help us improve diagnosis during cardiac exams.” said Joe Kreeger, Supervisor of the Echocardiography Lab at Children’s.

When compared to conventional ultrasound systems, Toshiba’s Aplio MX is approximately 30 percent lighter and uses 35 percent less power. It is a smaller, more portable system, making it easier for hospital staff to maneuver the system and access the patient, while still performing premium ultrasound exams.

“Our collaboration with Children’s exemplifies how Toshiba is committed to meeting customers’ diagnostic imaging needs regardless of patient type,” said Tomohiro Hasegawa, director, Ultrasound Business Unit, Toshiba. “The advanced imaging technology of the Aplio MX system enables quicker and more accurate cardiac exams.”
