UNOTRON Sponsors EMR Workshop at the National Medical Association’s Annual Conference

UNOTRON sponsors Insight Data Group’s (IDG) series of Electronic Medical Records Workshops at the National Medical Association’s Annual Conference

UNOTRON (www.unotron.com), worldwide creator of medical grade, washable computer keyboards, scroll wheel mice, and smartcard readers, will sponsor Insight Data Group’s (IDG) series of Electronic Medical Records Workshops at the National Medical Association’s 2009 Convention and Scientific Assembly, July 25-29, 2009, at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. IDG (www.insight-data.com) offers the Allscripts MyWay Electronic Health Record to small and mid-sized healthcare providers across Illinois.

UNOTRON’s keyboards and mice will be on display at the conference -- along with HP computers using Microsoft’s internet connectivity -- as part of our growing collaborative relationship with IDG,” says Joseph Carabello, director of Unotron. “It’s a unified effort to help promote much-needed reform in healthcare.”

Spanning three days, IDG president Bryan Bennett will deliver three presentations that incorporate several topics discussed in the chapter he authored for the book Adaptive Health Management Information Systems (Jones & Bartlett Publisher, May, 21, 2009). Bennett’s chapter, “Data Stewardship: Foundation for HMIS Design, Implementation & Evaluation,” includes various electronic medical record subjects related to practice management and billing.

Additionally, IDG will hold three evening demonstrations of Allscripts MyWay, using products developed by UNOTRON, which is world renown for manufacturing high quality, washable data input and security devices that are easily cleaned and disinfected to mitigate the spread of infection. UNOTRON’s patented SpillSeal protection allows keyboards to be fully submerged in water or antibacterial solutions for disinfecting.

For the past 113 years, the National Medical Association has conducted its Annual Convention and Scientific Assembly, the nation’s foremost conference devoted to medical science and African American health, offering an exciting venue for African American physicians, academicians, scientists, and other allied health professionals.

“The National Medical Association advocates for policies that ensure equitable and quality healthcare for all people,” Carabello adds. “And Bryan Bennett is a proven leader, consistently demonstrating an ability to help clients improve customer management and business processes.”

Other sponsors of the convention, which expects to draw 4,000 physicians and their staff, include Allscripts, Synnex Corporation, ViewSonic, Microsoft, and HP.
