Alternative of Ultrasound Detects Fetus Gender

Radiology News

Study finds that a new blood test can imerge as an alternative to ultrasound to detect fetus gender.

Parents who normally want to know the sex of their unborn child can usually find out through ultrasound in the second trimester, while this new blood test can detect fetus gender at 7 week of pregnancy

The test is important because in some cases there are medical reasons to determine gender early. That can mean invasive tests, such as amniocentesis, which carry a small risk of miscarriage.

The study appears in the journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
