HIFU is global leader in the development, manufacturing and distribution of high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) technologies Mexico HIFU in conjunction with International HIFU, the Mexican and international entities of USHIFU, a global leader in the development, manufacturing and distribution of high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) technologies, will host the very first multiday Sonablate(R) HIFU physician training seminar in Mexico City, March 17-18, 2009 at Hospital Star Medica Santa Fe.

The two day training seminar using the Sonablate(R) HIFU device will host top urologists from several of Mexico's leading hospitals, including the Angeles Hospital Group, Clinical Lomas Altas and Hospital Star Medica. The training seminar will include an academic presentation which will provide an overview of the physics and science of HIFU as a therapy for prostate cancer and also discuss patient selection. Additionally, the seminar will incorporate a comprehensive review of international clinical outcomes and advanced one-on-one simulator training. The highlight for physicians attending the seminar will be observation and participation in live Sonablate(R) HIFU cases.

"There has been significant interest from the urology community within Mexico to bring this technology to Mexico's largest city. Within two days of announcing the training seminar, the limited number of spots were filled and we now have a waiting list of doctors from Guadalajara and Monterrey for the next HIFU physician training seminar," said Alex Gonzalez, Vice President of International Operations, USHIFU. "We are ecstatic to be working with such high caliber physicians and continue to spread awareness about HIFU for prostate cancer throughout Mexico."

Although this is the first training program of its kind in Mexico City, in the past four years, over 1000 patients have been treated in Mexico with minimally invasive Sonablate(R) HIFU in Guadalajara, Monterrey, Mexico City, Puerto Vallarta and Cancun.
