Lawn Tennis Association serves up ultrasound offering at The National Tennis Centre

The Lawn Tennis Association, the governing body of tennis in Great Britain and organiser of tennis championships, has installed an ACUSON Antares ultrasound system from Siemens.

The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), the governing body of tennis in Great Britain and organiser of elite tennis championships, such as Wimbledon and The British Tennis Championships, has installed an ACUSON Antares ultrasound system from Siemens.

The new ultrasound platform is based at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton, London to provide on-site medical examinations of sports injuries or musculoskeletal queries for the LTA's professional players.

The ACUSON Antares is a premium ultrasound system designed to provide superior image quality during clinical examinations.  It offers spatial compounding, which utilises multiple lines of sight to provide significant improvements in contrast resolution, speckle reduction and border detection.

The system is also ergonomically designed for ease of use.  It is lightweight and compact to reduce operator strain, plus the control panel is height adjustable with an intuitive layout and workflow to reduce keystrokes and repetitive motions.

"When a professional sportsman gets injured, it is very frustrating not knowing how serious the injury is," states Steve Beale, Regional Sales Manager for Ultrasound and Women's Health at Siemens Healthcare.  "The Lawn Tennis Association will be able to provide sound diagnostic information and assessment of injuries and provide an accurate course of treatment."
