Siemens Healthcare will be showcasing its innovative range of ultrasound products at the British Medical Ultrasound Society Annual Scientific Meeting in Liverpool.

Siemens Healthcare will be showcasing its innovative range of ultrasound products at the British Medical Ultrasound Society (BMUS) Annual Scientific Meeting in Liverpool, 9-11 December 2008.

Live demonstrations will be given of the S2000 and X300, ideal for routine and advanced clinical procedures and the mobile P50 that demonstrates versatility beyond the conventional walls on the imaging department.

Siemens Healthcare representatives will support workshops and discuss the range of functionality that the ACUSON range can provide to hospitals and diagnostic centres during the event.  A presentation on 'Silicon – the next big thing in ultrasound' is also planned for Tuesday 9 December at 4.30pm in the Siemens room.

The ACUSON S2000 launched earlier this year draws on the latest imaging innovations to optimise workflow and simplify examinations.  It provides routine functionality plus enhanced capabilities for emerging clinical techniques.  It includes 'Virtual Touch™ Tissue Imaging', the first commercially available implementation of Acoustic Radiation Force Imaging (ARFI), which uses an acoustic 'push pulse' to compress and assess the stiffness of tissue.  This is of particular use in ultrasound liver examinations.  The system also includes 'eSie Touch' to enable elasticity imaging, useful for obtaining additional information about the stiffness of breast lesions for a more accurate diagnosis.  The S2000 has been well received into the UK marketplace and many units are in action across the country.

The portable benefits of the handheld ACUSON P10 and laptop ACUSON P50 will also be available to view in the Siemens Healthcare room.  The P10 is the first available handheld ultrasound screening device designed to provide faster care in critical or trauma situations and versatility in routine examinations.  The P50 combines the flexibility, usability and mobility of a laptop, with the excellent image quality of a full conventional ultrasound system.  The unit can easily be carried to locations within the hospital environment, such as cardiology, vascular and intensive care units, and also beyond the walls of traditional imaging, to trauma scenes or sports fixtures.

The ACUSON X300 delivers excellent image quality for a confident diagnosis.  It is engineered for use across a variety of applications including cardiac, obstetrics, gynaecology, vascular and breast imaging.  It can run several advanced Cardiology application packages, which makes it an ideal solution for simplifying and accelerating workflow in echocardiography and vascular diagnosis.  The system is also compact in size to fit into tight clinical spaces.  It has been ergonomically designed and features an intuitive and height adjustable control panel for multiple users.
