Veran Medical Technologies, Inc. developed the IG4 electromagnetic system for tracking organ movement and position of diagnostic biopsy needles, as well as other interventional radiology devices. ig4-plug-n-play-delivery-system

The Veran IG4 system’s unique four-dimensional capabilities allow the system to capture and display three-dimensional images that were gathered at various moments in time (the fourth dimension) along natural movement cycles (respiration, heartbeat). When these images are synchronized in real-time to live patient conditions, clinicians experience powerful and simultaneous diagnostic and treatment capabilities.

The Veran IG4 system’s capabilities allow for critical instrument “tracking.” This ability to “see inside” allows clinicians to accurately target the lesion within a moving organ such as the lungs, kidneys or liver. It enables clinicians to display rich and varied diagnostic information such as contrast enhanced, computed tomography (or CT/PET) at the point of care and therapy delivery; a technique never before possible because of the side effects associated with continuously administering nephrotoxic contrast agents. Another major benefit is that it is not limited to navigating in a single plane or on lower quality images that CT Fluoro requires. The IG4 allows a physician to select any approach to target the lesion with its global positioning system-like accuracy for high-quality images.

Frost & Sullivan awarded Veran Medical Technologies, Inc.the 2009 North American Frost & Sullivan Award for Technology Innovation of the Year in recognition of its pioneering development of a novel image guided medical therapy delivery system,IG4, which enables accurate and efficient targeting of very small lesions in the lungs.
