Virtual Imaging unveiled the results from the installation of the highly acclaimed Canon digital radiography (DR) systems at the Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute

Virtual Imaging, Inc. unveiled the results from the installation of the highly acclaimed Canon digital radiography (DR) systems at the Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute (KCOI).  The sale and installation, performed by Brown’s Medical Imaging’s Kansas City division, provided validation of the Institute’s objectives in providing better patient care and improving productivity.  The results were attributed to the recent installation of four (4) powerful DR solutions: the RadPRO 40KW Digital Mobile with a Canon CXDI-50 Series Digital Radiography Flat Panel Detector and three (3) RadPRO OTX Overhead Radiography Systems integrated with the Canon CXDI-50 and CXDI-40 Series DR Flat Panel Detectors.

The installation resulted in a completely digital environment for a practice that had always used traditional film and chemistry processes in three high volume general X-ray rooms as well as their surgery center.  The replacement of analog equipment with DR solutions from the RadPRO® and Canon’s product lines, has allowed KCOI personnel to easily transition to DR after learning about the products’ technological capabilities along with the versatility and user-friendliness of the solutions.

According to Dr. Charles Rhoades, Chief Executive Officer of Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute, “The main objective and lifelong commitment of the facility is to provide the highest quality of patient care.  Now, since upgrading the Institute’s x-ray rooms to DR, physicians have a much faster and greater access to the imaging data, which is acquired within seconds after the exposure.”

The results: the four (4) DR systems have instantly improved the level of patient care by greatly reducing patient waiting times and time in the examination rooms. Overall, the productivity and improved workflow when measured by turnaround time was significantly increased as well as the image processing rate.  There were fewer retakes overall and greater diagnostic image quality.
