Viztek installed two DR systems along with Opal-ORTHO PACS at the Kennedy White Orthopaedic Center

Kennedy White Orthopaedic Center of Sarasota, FL has chosen Viztek , the radiology solution provider, to equip their new facility with a complete digital radiology solution.

Viztek installed two U-Arm DR systems along with Opal-ORTHO PACS in the multi-specialty, 11 physician orthopedic practice. Prior to the move, Kennedy White was an analog facility with four radiology rooms.

In the new facility, the practice can maintain the volume of 40,000 exams per year with two DR rooms rather than the four analog rooms they previously used. With approximately 100 patients per day, Viztek’s DR has virtually eliminated all patient waiting time, significantly improving facility workflow.
 
The digital system has enhanced the practice’s efficiency, alleviating bottlenecks in daily routines as well as offering optimal image quality and functionality. Viztek’s DR offers a unique feature called auto-positioning for auto-stitching. This feature removes the burden of manually stitching long length images from the technologists, compensates for patient movement, and produces high quality stitched images.

A large component driving the facility’s conversion to digital was issues with patients who brought in radiology exams on CDs. Physicians would often have to wait lengthy periods for the images to open. Once the images opened, physicians contended with different viewers from referring facilities. With Viztek’s Opal-ORTHO PACS images open from a CD directly in the Opal viewer, regardless of where the CD was created.

Viztek’s web-based PACS allows the physicians to access patient files from all 27 exam rooms with full functionality including orthopedic templating. Practice Administrator Sean O’Neal says, “Viztek’s PACS and DR systems have completely changed the way our practice operates. Wait time for patients, physicians, and technologists has decreased, improving how work in our facility flows, while we still get the highest quality images and the ability to view incoming patients’ CDs on our Opal-ORTHO PACS viewer regardless of referring physician.”

Viztek General Manager, Bruce Ashby, explains “Switching from analog radiology rooms to digital saves time and space within a practice. With two Viztek U-Arms, Kennedy White can exceed x-ray volume that was done previously in four of the old rooms.”
