Viztek installed its Opal-RAD PACS and advanced digital radiography (DR) technology at Rockwall Urgent Care

Viztek , the radiology solution provider, has installed its Opal-RAD PACS and advanced digital radiography (DR) technology at Rockwall Urgent Care, in Rockwall, TX. The new facility is a full service, walk-in clinic, open seven days a week to provide the community with the highest standard of care.  Rockwall offers a large range of services and consists of six physicians.

Rockwall Urgent Care decided to open the new facility equipped with a complete digital solution provided by Viztek. With Viztek’s PACS and DR, the facility is able to x-ray a patient and have access to digital images within seconds of exposure.  After acquisition, images are automatically sent to the Opal-RAD PACS for review, reporting, and storage. The site chose DR over CR because it allows the practice to x-ray without the need to handle cassettes. Another advantage that DR offers over the alternative digital solution, CR, is the time necessary to view images. DR images are available almost instantly while with CR cassette development is a much lengthier process.

In addition to streamlining workflow within the facility, Opal-RAD PACS enables outside referring physicians fast and secure access to patient files and exams. With Viztek’s Opal-RAD Web-based PACS, gone are the days when analog x-rays had to be physically transported from one facility to another. Rockwall now has the ability to send information digitally through the PACS.
