Ziosoft, Inc., a leader in advanced visualization and functional analytics for the medical care market, today announced the appointment of Heather Brown, Ph.D. as director of clinical solutions. Brown is responsible for creating the first 3D Advanced Visualization college accredited course in the U.S., which is still being conducted at Jefferson Community & Technical College in Louisville, Kentucky where she is an associate professor.

"Dr. Brown brings a wealth of experience in the clinical application of advanced visualization and is considered one of the country's leading educators in this subject," said Rob Royea, vice president of sales and marketing for Ziosoft. "In her new role with Ziosoft, she will work with clients to optimize our highly customizable software for the specific needs of the facility. Additionally, she will serve as a key resource for client research and clinical solutions for applying Ziosoft's supercomputing technology to state-of-the-art patient care."

Prior to Ziosoft, Brown held a similar position with 3DR Laboratories in addition to her academic role at Jefferson. She has numerous published research papers including several peer-reviewed articles. Brown earned her bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering at Michigan Technical University where she graduated cum laude. She later received her master of science and doctoral degrees in biomedical engineering from Vanderbilt University.

Brown will also be responsible for assisting customers in implementing Ziosoft's breakthrough PhyZiodynamic solutions. This gateway to 5D functional visualization is based on supercomputing technology originally developed for dynamic, instantaneous weather pattern analysis. Over the years, supercomputing has evolved from a large room of host computer hardware to a centralized, CPU-based processing server allowing multiple concurrent users throughout the enterprise system. This has resulted in several significant advantages including superb image quality, optimized user efficiency and maximum cost effectiveness for an extensive range of clinical applications.

The technology offers scalable software solutions, eliminating the need for costly, multiple proprietary or specialized GPU rendering boards. It integrates seamlessly with standard, off-the-shelf hardware and helps expand the life of expensive modalities such as CT and MR.

"I have worked with many of today's advanced visualization systems and have found Ziosoft's cutting-edge technology to offer the gold standard in providing measurable, reproducible and dynamic results," said Brown. "When that level of high image quality is combined with a customizable interface, our users can efficiently produce accurate data leading to more appropriate and actionable patient outcomes. I am excited to become a part of the Ziosoft team."

PhyZiodynamic technology is compatible with any DICOM imaging modality including CT, MR, PET, Nuclear Medicine and Angiography. This allows advanced diagnostic applications for multiple medical specialties such as cardiology, radiology, neurology, orthopedics and oncology. Ziosoft has received regulatory clearance for several clinical applications, including CT brain perfusion, CT coronary analysis and calcium scoring, as well as both MR and CT cardiac function analysis.
