eClinicalWorks Customer, Urban Health Plan, Receives HIMSS Davies Award

Company News - eClinicalWorks, LLC

Since this Awards Category Began, Half of Recipients are Customers of eClinicalWorks

eClinicalWorks , a market leader in ambulatory clinical systems, announced that eClinicalWorks’ customer Urban Health Plan (UHP) of New York received a 2009 Davies Award by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). The award, which honors excellence in implementing electronic health records (EHRs), was presented in the Community Health Organizations category and announced on September 22, 2009 (www.himss.org/ASP/ContentRedirector.asp?ContentID=72115&type=HIMSSNewsItem).

“We at Urban Health Plan are honored to receive the distinguished Davies Award,” said Paloma Hernandez, President and CEO, Urban Health Plan, Inc. “Since 2006, when we successfully implemented our EHR system, we have been able to transform our health care delivery in how we treat our patients, track their health care outcomes and more importantly, continuously work towards improving the health of the communities we serve, namely the South Bronx and Corona, Queens. Our work will go a long way in aiding the elimination of health care disparities in these communities,” she said.

“eClinicalWorks works closely with our customers to provide comprehensive functionality that will help them improve quality of care,” said Girish Kumar Navani, CEO and co-founder of eClinicalWorks. “Seeing the success our customers achieve makes us extremely proud and committed to taking our solutions even further. We congratulate Urban Health Plan on receiving this prestigious award.”

Created in 2008, the HIMSS Davies Community Health Award category recognizes care being provided through an open-door policy, predominantly to underserved populations. UHP is a network of federally qualified community health centers based in the South Bronx and Queens that was founded in 1974. Its mission is to improve the health status of underserved communities with 13 practice sites that are within the highest two percent of U.S. counties in poverty. Last year, White River Rural Health Center in Arkansas and New York Children’s Health Project both received awards in this category, making half of the six recipients to ever receive this award, customers of eClinicalWorks.
