  • Study Finds link between Sleep Apnea, Alzheimer's Disease

    A study reported at a medical meeting found biochemical signs of Alzheimer's disease in lean patients who have normal cognitive function and sleep apnea. Researchers used FDG-PET to measure glucose metabolization and PET imaging with Pittsburgh compound B to measure levels of amyloid, a protein linked to the disease. The researchers are planning studies that may help establish whether there is a causal relationship between sleep apnea and Alzheimer's.
