About eHealth Information Exchange
At the core of the Global eHealth Solutions platform is the eHealth Information Exchange – a secure, standards-based infrastructure that integrates clinical data from across disparate systems and manages the wide variety of clinical records, document types and terminologies pervasive in today’s healthcare system.
As a vendor neutral solution, our Health Information Exchange (HIE) builds on your existing investments by integrating directly into various existing EMR systems and workflow. By enabling the exchange of clinical data from any system, the GE Healthcare’s eHealth Information Exchange can also help organizations meet meaningful use criteria.
Key components of the eHealth Informtion Exchange include:
- eHealth Master Patient Index – matches patient identities and records using a probabilistic algorithm
- eHealth Document Registry – maintains pointers to documents that contain clinical data
- eHealth Document Repository – stores clinical documents in a standards based format
Interoperability in Action: Profiles & Standards
GE’s Health Information Exchange (HIE) solution adheres to the IHE standards, which are thoroughly tested in North American Connect-a-thons, including the following standards: PIX profile, Basic Patient Privacy Content (BPPC), Audit Trail and Node Authentication (ATNA), Cross enterprise document sharing-scanned documents (XDS-SD), XD-LAB.
Data can be stored in several ways, as dictated by business and security requirements including federated, centralized or hybrid systems.
The Health Information Exchange can be hosted in GE’s secure data center, which is certified by the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC) as a Tier III center and offers high availability, security and redundancy. Comparable hosting levels are offered outside of the U.S.
