Enabling a View of Workflow from Anywhere Around the Globe

peerVue , the leader in workflow and communications solutions for imaging, announces new mobile device compatibility for its QICS (Qualitative Intelligence & Communications System) introduced at RSNA 2010 .  The advanced application transforms existing PACS, RIS, HIS and other healthcare data into qualitative intelligence used to drive virtually an unlimited range of radiology workflows, from critical results communication to emergency room discrepancy management.  The system will now be fully compatible with the iPad, iPhone Android and other similar mobile devices.

A key part of the QICS application is the ability to provide radiologists and other caregivers with up-to-the-minute information and closed-loop communications for a full range of radiology issues.  Given that, according to Kyle Lawton, CEO of peerVue, the ability to communicate through mobile devices is crucial.  Recent statistics indicate that physicians are increasingly relying on these devices to access real-time patient and other medical information both in and outside of a hospital environment.

“With QICS running on a mobile device, radiologists as well as all medical professionals can receive and request such up-to-the-minute information as patient radiation dose, emergency department discrepancies and critical results findings,” said Lawton.  “In addition, they can arrange virtual consultations on the fly and track a side range for information.”

“The new mobile connectivity is flexible and easy to use,” comments Erik Health, Chief Technology Officer for peerVue.  “Because users can access the completely web based anywhere anytime using the same secure QICS application platform to stay abreast of current information 24/7.”

QICS simplifies the IT environment by eliminating workarounds in existing HIS, RIS and PACS solutions and the need to purchase multiple niche solutions to address otherwise unmet functionalities beyond the scope of these applications.

QICS monitors all related workflow activity and collects clinical information to perform real-time workflow analyses.  It applies customizable business rules to identify and prevent potential issues before they occur, such as scheduling new exams on patients with potentially high radiation dose history.  QICS also closes the loop on all related communications by ensuring that critical results are communicated to and acknowledged by the correct physicians as well as alerting radiologists of billing and coding issues that would otherwise negatively impact reimbursement.

“When viewed on the go on a mobile device, QICS provides radiology professionals with a unique perspective on their department,” said Heath. ”In essence, it enables a global view of workflow anywhere around the globe.”
